The teeth will be sore for a few days after bands/brackets
are placed and during the continuation of your treatment.
Generally, this is normal.
* The teeth and "gums" must be cleaned thoroughly several
times a day with a soft toothbrush, proxabrush, and dental
floss (adults).
* Wax will be provided to place over any bracket or band
that is irritating you.
* You should eat a well balanced diet. AVOID
HARD OR STICKY FOODS SUCH AS CARMELS, TAFFY, CANDY APPLES,
PRETZELS, POPCORN, ICE, GUM, AND PIZZA CRUST. CUT-UP RAW
VEGETABLES AND FRUIT BEFORE EATING THEM.
* Use fluoride on a regular basis. Apply prevident with
a toothbrush at night and at 6 months intervals at your
family dentist.
* Remember, regular visits to the family dentists are required.
* All loose brackets, bands, or wires should be reported
to us at once. Don't wait until your next appointment because
some problems may arise. PLEASE BRING ALL LOOSE MATERIALS
WITH YOU SO WE CAN EVALUATE WHETHER OR NOT THEY CAN BE USED.
IF YOU WEAR A HEADGEAR, BRING IT WITH YOU.
* Below is a diagram of the appliance your child/you will
be wearing. This diagram will help you identify the damaged
or broken parts when you telephone our office. Appliances
are delicately constructed and require reasonable care.
